📖 Plot Overview

Here’s what happens without giving away the final twist:

• Elio Solís is an 11-year-old kid who feels out of place on Earth. His parents are deceased, and he’s raised by his Aunt Olga. He’s obsessed with aliens and space, and longs to connect with somewhere he feels he belongs.

• After repeatedly trying to make contact with extraterrestrials, Elio finally succeeds in sending a message via some equipment at Olga’s Air Force base. The aliens respond.

• The aliens, part of an intergalactic organization called the Communiverse, mistakenly believe Elio is Earth’s official ambassador. Because of this misunderstanding, Elio is beamed into the Communiverse and tasked (whether he wants it or not) with representing Earth.

• While in the Communiverse, Elio encounters a variety of alien species, out-of-this-world environments, and strange challenges. He befriends Glordon, a gentle alien, and meets figures like Ambassador Questa, Lord Grigon, and the super-computer Ooooo.

• Central themes are identity, belonging, friendship, grief, and self-acceptance. Elio’s journey is not just physical/space-adventure, but also emotional: his struggle to feel like he belongs, to deal with loss, and to accept where he is and who he is.
